Founded in 2021, Studio88 began as a single piano in a cozy basement and a dream to make music education morecreative, personal, and fun. What started with one enthusiastic student has now grown into a thriving studio serving musicians across the DMV area. Studio88 was inspired by a simple idea that every child has their own rhythm and deserves a space to explore it. Our mission is to nurture confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music through lessons that are engaging, personalized, and rooted in joy. Today, Studio88 continues to expand its reach while staying true to its core: helping each student find their own unique sound. Our vision is to grow into a multi-instrument hub where students can not only learn but perform, record, and collaborate bringing the energy of the music world right into our community.

McKenzie Sherman is the founder and lead instructor of Studio88, a creative space dedicated to inspiring the next generation of young musicians.
Her piano journey began at just four years old, when her mom bought her a small electric keyboard. McKenzie would spend hours memorizing the songs the keyboard played and the very first one she learned was September by Earth, Wind & Fire. Her natural ear for melody and rhythm quickly stood out, and she was soon enrolled in formal piano lessons to nurture her growing passion.
Over the years, McKenzie’s talent and dedication led her to perform at state competitions, university recitals, and community showcases, earning recognition for both her musicianship and her teaching excellence.
